Parish members are involved with groups beyond the parish itself. Here are some details about two such groups:
Catholic Deaneries have been established in Melbourne for the last 20 years or so. A Deanery consists of a cluster of about eight to ten neighbouring parishes that work together to support, strengthen and coordinate the pastoral mission of the Church in the region.
The Sydney Road Deanery is a cluster of nine parishes in the vicinity of Sydney Road, namely: Brunswick/East Brunswick, West Brunswick, North Brunswick, Moreland, Pascoe Vale, East Coburg, Coburg, Fawkner and North Fawkner.
There is a Deanery Leadership Team that coordinates the pastoral mission of the Deanery. And there are various committees that carry out different aspects of Deanery work. The Sydney Road Deanery has an annual Mass, an annual School Choral Festival and an annual occasion for prayer.
